CBH improves the health of Maryland's children and adults by advocating for and providing support and technical assistance to Maryland community-based behavioral health service providers and their constituents. As a statewide professional organization of community service programs, CBH is dedicated to making high quality rehabilitation, vocational, residential, and treatment opportunities available to all persons with mental illnesses.
We are members of the National Council of Community Behavioral Health Care, Maryland Nonprofits, Community Health Charities of Maryland, the Maryland Mental Health Coalition and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.
CBH Now Accepting New Memberships If your behavioral health agency is not a member of the Community Behavioral Health Association of Maryland, CBH, please consider applying for membership. CBH is the primary professional organization serving the interests of community service providers in Maryland. It does so through public policy/advocacy work with the General Assembly, the Mental Hygiene Administration, ValueOptions, Core Service Agencies, and other policy-makers; professional development and training including discounted access to Essential Learning’s extensive web-based behavioral healthcurriculum; and dissemination of timely accurate policy and program informationvia regular emails and other communication vehicles, including access to a members-only website. CBH members also receive free membership in the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, the nation’s leading community provider association. Other benefits include: oSavings in workers’ compensation premiums via participation in our self-insured workers’ compensation group oReduced unemployment costs through the Unemployment Services Trust oLower rates on criminal background checks under our agreement with Kroll Background America oAccess to state-of-the-art management trainings at reduced fees through our arrangement with Open Minds. CBH membership is open to providers of community behavioral health services who 1)are licensed or approved by the Mental Hygiene Administration (MHA) and/or other relevant governmental authorities for the behavioral health services they deliver in accordance with state regulations and 2) agree to comply with CBH Professional Standards, its Code of Ethics, and its operating policies. Membership is also open to consumer-based organizations representing behavioral health consumers. All members are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
